Black River - Dewey Genito, 86, of 30082 State Rt. # 3, died early Thursday morning, October 4, 2012, at his residence where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Mr. Genito was born in Carthage on March 2, 1926, the son of the late Angelo and Emmanuella Icovillo Genito. He attended school in Deferiet. A marriage to the former Joyce Bylow ended in divorce. He worked at the former Taggart Mill and transferred to the St. Regis Mill in Deferiet for a total of 41 years. He worked in the ground wood department and on the railroad. He also operated a rubbish removal business for many years.

He is survived by his companion of many years, Carol Olmstead of Black River, two sons: Mark and Gary Genito, both of Indian River, NY, 2 step sons, Carlton Olmstead of Missouri and Marc and Jody Sheltray of Carthage, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister: Amelia Mushtare of Carthage and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by an infant son, Edward Genito who died in 1952, 4 sisters, Delores Genito, Madaline Vallelunga, Rose Olsgard and Mary Bryant and 2 brothers, Louis and Joseph Genito.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Genito, OSA, his nephew officiating. Burial will be in Old St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the family home at 30082 State Rt. # 3, on Friday from 3:00pm until 9:00pm.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.
