West Carthage - Anthony J. Mandell, 78, of 57 N. Jefferson St., died Monday morning, January 21, 2013, in the Emergency Room of the Carthage Area Hospital after being stricken at his residence with a heart attack.
Tony was born in Rochester on June 11, 1934, the son of the late Sylvester and Marie Gaudio Mandell. He was a graduate of Rochester High School and later attended ministry school. He served in the Navy for two years. He married the former Margaret O. Petell Overton on December 13, 1980 in Carthage. He was a meat cutter with P & C Foods in West Carthage for over 26 years.
Tony was a great caring husband and father. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret O. of West Carthage, two daughters: Carol Miller of Corning and Roxanne Robinson of Salem, AL, four sons: Donald Overton of Columbus, GA, Dorrance Overton of Watertown, Robert Overton of Salem, AL and Gerald Overton of Carthage, 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Theresa Fox and Dan and Christine Johnston, all of Carthage, Oliver Petell of Constableville and Gert Petell of LaFargeville, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Mark Mandell is predeceased.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, with Deacon Richard Staab officiating. Calling hours will precede the funeral service from 3-6pm on Thursday. Burial will be at the family's convenience.
