Carthage - Beryl Joy Hutchins, 86, formerly of 512 John St., died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in the Carthage Area Hospital where she has been a patient for 10 days.

Beryl was born in Carthage on November 27, 1926, the daughter of the late John H. and Dora H. O'Dette Mono. She attended Augustinian Academy in Carthage. She married Robert J. Hutchins on January 11, 1945 at St. James Church in Carthage. Mr. Hutchins, a former employee of Carthage Machine, died on December 15, 2011. Beryl retired in 1987 from Augustinian Academy after 19 years of service. She worked in the cafeteria and as a custodian.


She is survived by two daughters: Marcia Hutchins of Carthage and Becky Snyder of Deltona, FL, a son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Brenda Hutchins of Carthage, several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and a Great Great Granddaughter, three sisters: Sherry Orton of Carthage, Clara Hamilton of Central, SC and Sheila Rivera of Benson, NC, a brother: David Mono of Carthage and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by an infant son, Joseph and a son Dwight Hutchins who died in 2006, four brothers, Gale, Meryl, John and Mark Mono and six sisters, Joleen Hardy, Kay and Donna Mono, Glenda Barlow, Paula Hutchins and Dora Ashcraft.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
