CARTHAGE- Carl A. Pignone, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida, with his family by his side. Born on May 27, 1937, in Carthage to the late Anthony and Antoinette (DeCilles) Pignone, Sr., Carl was a 1953 graduate of Augustinian Academy. He enlisted in the United States Army's 11th Airborne Division on March 25, 1955, and was stationed in Germany for 24 months until March 5, 1958. He then served with the New Jersey National Guard and returned to Germany for 20 days before retiring in 1987.
He owned Carl’s Texaco on Eastern Blvd., in Watertown. Worked for Long Falls Realty and took care of Marco for 32 years.
Carl married Louise (Hall) in 1996, and he was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Louise Pignone of Carthage; two sons, Eric (Samantha) Pignone of Constableville; and John (Joyce) Pignone of Rodman; his sister, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Schwendy of Carthage; his grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Jared, Lisa, Sara, Doug, along with his great-grandchildren, Rowan, Emma, Sophia, Jamari, Naomi, Elizabeth, Lillian, and Tanner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (Hall) Pignone, in 1994, as well as three brothers, Michael, James, and Anthony Pignone Jr., and three sisters, Lena Abrams, Priscilla A. Campbell, Rosie Barker, and his son, Marco Pignone, who died in 2022.
He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and spending the winters in Florida. Carl loved country music and dancing.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. James Catholic Church, located at 327 West Street, Carthage. Funeral services will take place at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage, with Rev. Todd E. Thibault officiating. Burial will follow in the spring with Military Honors at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
