Christopher S. Compton, age 56, passed away August 1, 2017 at Carthage Area Hospital after a six year battle against prostate cancer.
Mr. Compton is survived by his wife of 29 years, Claribel, 2 sons: Michael (Jacy) and Anthony (Rosa). His 5 grandchildren: Immanuel, Dinaha, Michael Jr., Lyla, and Lina. His parents John and Joan Compton, siblings: Lynda, Sandy, Jane, Mike, Lee, Tina, their spouses, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Christopher is a veteran of the United States Army, where he earned numerous awards which included: 3 Meritorious Service Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, 6 Army Achievement Medals, 2 Army Superior Unit Awards, 5 Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, 3 Non-Commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. He served over 21 years at Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Ord California, Nuremburg Germany, Schofield Barracks Hawaii, Fort Irwin California, Fort Drum New York and Hohenfels Training Area Germany.
Services will be held on Monday, August 7 at 1:00 pm at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State St., Carthage, NY 13619 with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers to give a memorial gift in honor of Christopher to the Upstate Foundation at 750 East Adams Street, CAB 326, Syracuse, New York 13210.
