West Carthage - Craig M. "Marty" O'Dett, 63, of 36988 State Rt. #126, died Sunday evening, May 17, 2015 at his residence after being stricken there.

Marty was born in West Carthage on August 24, 1951, the son of the late Clarence and Edith Buck O'Dett. He attended Carthage Schools. He served in the Navy from April of 1969 to January of 1973. For many years Marty worked at the former Crown Zellerbach Corp until its closure as Fort James. He has operated a trash collection business for many years in the Carthage area. A marriage to the former Rhonda Bishop ended in divorce.

He was a member of the VFW Post #7227 of Carthage.


He is survived by one son: Shawn M. O'Dett of Knoxville, TN, three sisters: Nancy Gundersen of Harrisville, Arlene Atkins of Carthage and Norma Hubbard of Mexico, NY, two brothers: Donald and Dennis O'Dett, both of Carthage and numerous nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Ronald, Keith, Clarence (Buster) and Stanley O'Dett and five sisters, Vivian Cody, Joan Robinson, Wanda Church, Jean Hubbard and Lily Tehonica all died previous. His long time companion, Sylvia Cook died in 1999.

Per his wishes, all services will be handled privately by the family. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
