Carthage - Daniel F. Greve, 47, of 36412 VanBrocklin Road, died Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, in the University Hospital, Syracuse from complications due to an ATV accident on Saturday, April 13.
Dan was born in Gloversville on February 5, 1966, the son of the late William J. and Nancy R. Higier Crawford. He was later raised and adopted by his mom's second husband, Norman F. Greve. He attended school in Carthage. A previous marriage ended in divorce. Dan was a journeyman carpenter, union painter and worked for various construction companies and local farms. His latest employment was with Purcell Construction of Watertown.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of Lowville, the Black River Valley Shuffleboard League at the Buffalo Inn and a former member of the Champion Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting on Tug Hill and riding his 4 wheeler. He was the biggest Tony Stewart fan, loved the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots but most of all, he loved spending time with his granddaughter and his cherished dog "Dozer". Dan had numerous friends who will remember him and miss him deeply.
He is survived by his fiancée, Amy L. Mann of Carthage, two sons, Michael Scott of Carthage and Christopher Dick of Champion, a granddaughter Jaelynn, a half brother, William Crawford of Florida, one Aunt, Joan Autilio of Delmar and two cousins, Melissa and Patrick Autilio.
In keeping with his wishes there will be a celebration of his life held at the family's convenience. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
