Carthage - David M. LaBarge, 55, of 31101 County Rt. # 163, died Thursday morning, November 26, 2015 at his residence after an apparent heart attack.
Dave was born in Watertown on January 22, 1960, the son of the late Ernest F. and Joan A. Kitts LaBarge. He attended Carthage Central Schools. He was married to the former Sherrie L. Sheldon on June 3, 1986. The couple later divorced. His career in construction started with working for Cecil Bloss of Carthage, Law Brothers, Skyhook in Pennsylvania and finally with Purcell Construction of Watertown for the past 24 years where he was a Construction Site Supervisor. He worked at Fort Drum for many years, Alaska and Virginia.
When Dave wasn't working (which he loved work) he enjoyed spending time with his children and family and friends. He received several high awards in construction for his work and dedication. He also was an excellent finish carpenter and woodworker. His passion though was hunting and restoring older automobiles. He recently won a "Best of Show" award at the Clayton Auto Show for his restored 1970 Ford Torino Cobra.
Dave was a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762 of Carthage and the Sons of the American Legion Post # 789 of Carthage.
He is survived by one son: Blake E. LaBarge of Copenhagen, one daughter: Alexis H. LaBarge of Copenhagen, his mother: Joan A. LaBarge of West Carthage, two sisters: Christine Metzger of Carthage and Lisa LaBarge of Lowville, two brothers: Peter LaBarge of Champion and Michael LaBarge of West Carthage, his ex-wife, Sherrie L. LaBarge of Copenhagen and his beloved nieces and nephews and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Deacon Richard Staab officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5pm at the funeral home.
