Harrisville – Doris Higman Crane, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13th at Milliard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, NY, near where she has resided for the last two years.

Doris was born in Carthage, NY on June 16, 1929, the daughter of the late George H. and Anna Boyle Higman. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated high school at Augustinian Academy, Carthage in 1946. She later graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce. She worked at the Marine Midland bank before marrying Benjamin M. Crane on September 4, 1951, at the St. James Rectory in Carthage. She and Ben raised their three older children as they traveled for Ben's Air Force Career. When the couple moved back to Harrisville, they raised their youngest daughter, gardened alongside each other, and canned food for the winter. Doris loved taking care of her home and being near to her Higman family. Her humor and positive attitude always brought a smile or laugh to everyone she knew. Ben passed away on October 8, 2015.

Doris was a former member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church and the Lions Club in Harrisville.

She is survived by three daughters: Beth Crane of Harrisville, Cathy Crane of Smelterville, ID, and Kristie (Tim) Filonczuk of Williamsville, NY, one son: Gregory (Karin) Crane of Nashua, NH, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by five sisters, Helen Riley, Kathryn Webb, Georgeanna Riley, Ruth Peterson, and Alice Kamide; and three brothers, G. Robert Higman, Albert Higman, and Harold Higman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage with Rev. Bruce W.
