Carthage - Dorothy E. Craig, 87, of 222 State St. died Friday evening, January 23, 2015, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica where she has been a patient for three weeks.

Dorothy was born in Norfolk on October 15, 1927 the daughter of the late Amos and Dorothy Beaulieu Barrett. She attended school in Carthage. She worked as a clerk in the former Woolworth's Store for many years in Carthage. A previous marriage to Lyle Prievo ended in divorce. She later married Vernard Craig in Deferiet on March 25, 1970. Vernard, a former employee of Carthage Machine, died on August 11, 1987. Dorothy has lived in Long Falls Apartments since 1988.

She is survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses, Julie and Mark Roberts of Carthage, David and Holly Prievo of Las Vegas, NV and Shawn and Jessica Prievo of Camden, 4 Great Grandchildren, one sister: Leora Oddi of Kentucky, one brother: Robert Barrett of North Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, Jerry and David Prievo, a daughter-in-law Diane Prievo and a sister Louise Biosi are predeceased.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Deacon Richard Staab officiating. Spring burial will be in the Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Calling hours will precede the funeral service on Wednesday from 4-6pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Carthage Nighthawk's Drill Team.
