Edith was born June 22, 1928 in Theresa, the daughter of the late James W. and Lillian M. (Bacon) McAvoy. She attended school in Evans Mills. She married Lawrence E. Leddy on January 26, 1952 at the Faith Chapel Church in Watertown. Lawrence, a former civil engineer for the NYS Dept. of Transportation died on February 21, 2010. Edith loved gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers and spending time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Black River.

Edith was one of the happiest, most thankful ladies around and she was often found telling people she has lived such a great life, she has done more in this life than she ever dreamed she would, and is very blessed to have her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in her everyday life. Her honesty, her loyalty to her family, and her optimistic personality will be greatly missed every day.

She is survived by a son, Patrick A. Leddy of San Antonio, TX and a daughter: Cindy S. Thomas and her longtime companion, Raymond Hall of Great Bend, 7 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren, a sister (her best friend) Flossie Edmonds of Tylerville and numerous nieces and nephews. 2 granddaughters Andrea Leddy and Angel Thomas, 3 sisters, Mary Comins, Beatrice Burnup and Pauline McAvoy and 4 brothers, Glen, William, Paul and John McAvoy all died previously.
