Edith Christine Leeder, 76, of Pearl St. Harrisville, passed away on Thursday, May 30,2024 at University Hospital, SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse.
Chris was born on August 29, 1947 in Carthage, the daughter of the late Richard Edward and Helen E. (Gyurko) Redmond Kline. She was a 1966 graduate of Carthage Central School. She married William Ross Leeder on April 29, 1967 at St. James Church in Carthage. Bill passed away on September 8, 2009. Chris was a teller for HSBC in Carthage for many years and filled in at the Carthage Savings and Loan. She then worked on Fort Drum where she worked as a referrals clerk at the Guthrie Clinic, eventually retiring at Fort Drum.
Chris was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Carthage and the BPOE Elks Lodge #1762 of Carthage. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, traveling, gambling, bus trips, and weekly dinner dates with her friends in Harrisville. She loved Lake Bonaparte. She was known for her wild spirit and living life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Leeder Arnold and Tammy Jo Leeder (Troy LaRock) both of Natural Bridge; one son, William Ross Leeder Jr. of West Carthage; four grandchildren, Jeanne LaRock, Garrett Arnold, Evan Arnold and Connor Leeder; and three great grandchildren, Charlie and Avery Miller, and Ramona Arnold; two brothers, James Redmond of Carthage and Patrick Redmond of Waterford, MI. She is predeceased by her five sisters, Marcia Kline, June Drake, Judy Carter, Gloria Barrett and Mary Lou Peebles.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 5-7pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorial services will be performed at 6:00pm by members of the American Legion Auxiliary. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the VFW Post # 7227 in Carthage. To leave a condolence, go to www.bezanillafh.com
