Carthage - Eleanor U. Moran, 92, of 22892 County Rt. #42, Carthage, died Saturday afternoon, December 15, 2012, in the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she has resided since June.
Mrs. Moran was born in New Bremen on July 11, 1920, the daughter of the late and former Lewis County Clerk, Peter J. and Anna Hunziker Ulrich. She was a 1937 graduate of Lowville Academy and 1940 graduate of C.C.B.I. in Syracuse. She married Miller Fay Moran on August 19, 1944 at the Baptist Church in Lowville with the Rev. William Sawin officiating. Mr. Moran, an attorney for many years in Carthage died on September 21, 2008. For many years the couple lived at 802 State St. in Carthage.
Eleanor enjoyed bowling in her younger years and playing cards.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage, Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and James Cervini of Carthage, three grandchildren, Anne Abel of Jamesville, Virginia Forney and Matthew Cervini both of Carthage, five great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Katherine Ulrich of Lowville and nieces and nephews. A brother Floyd Ulrich and four sisters, Mildred Nortz, Arletha Kilpatrick, Pauline Millard and Maxine Roberts died previously.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Barone, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. There will be a calling hour preceding the funeral service from 12-1pm on Tuesday.
