West Carthage - Eunice A. Snider, 82, of 7 Vincent St., on Easter evening, March 27, 2016 went peacefully to live with Jesus, surrounded by her family in her home.

Eunice was born in West Carthage on November 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Arthur and Leona Peters Merkley. She was a graduate of West Carthage High School. She married the love of her life, James H. Snider on October 6, 1951 at St. James Church with the Rev. William Dacey OSA officiating. Mr. Snider, former Mayor of West Carthage and Supervisor for Niagara Mohawk, died on September 1, 2008. Eunice was a very active member of the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary. She wintered in the Florida Keys with her best friend, Patricia Johnson numerous years.

She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Russ Jill Diane Spears of Powder Springs, GA, three sons: Steven H. (Chris) Snider of Lagrangeville, Terry P. (Beth) Snider of Mexico and Michael J. (Carol) Snider of Buffalo, 17 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Harry, Joseph and Larry Merkley died previous.


Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor of St. James Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Thursday from 5-7pm.
