Obituary

Carthage - Evelyn M. Intorcia, 74, of 600 S. Washington St. Apt. #60, died Thursday evening, August 7, 2014, in the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown where she has been a patient since June 16th.

Evelyn was born in Lowville, the daughter of the late Ralph and Edna Simmons Knapp. She attended schools in Copenhagen and Adams Center. She married Libero A. "Bill" Intorcia on October 5, 1957 at St. James Church in Carthage. Together the couple operated Intorcia's Donut Shop for 48 years on State St. in Carthage where they made their home above the business. She loved country music and was a member of the Black River Valley Fiddlers for 34 years and sung with the group. She also was an avid Bingo player.

She is survived by her husband, Libero A. "Bill" of Carthage, one daughter: Julie Davis of Carthage, two sons: Ricky Intorcia of Carthage and David Intorcia of Natural Bridge, 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, four sisters: Alice Gill of Deferiet, Mary Jane Hockey of Ellisburg, Shirley Rubyor of Watertown and Betty Hamilton of Adams Center, two brothers: Ralph Knapp of Watertown and Mike Knapp of Deferiet and several nieces and nephews. Her son, Libero A. Intorcia Jr. died in 1981 and a great grandson, Corbin Davis died in 2010.


Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at the family's convenience. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Sunday from 2-6pm.
