Frederick V. Cole Sr., 73, of 5903 River Road, Watson, a longtime resident of Carthage, died early Thursday morning, January 16, 2025, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Lowville Veterans of Foreign Wars, located at 7744 W. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367. Fred was born on October 9, 195,1 in Watertown, the son of the late Ronald J. and Jean F. (Conley) Cole. He was a 1969 graduate of the Augustinian Academy in Carthage. He was united in marriage to the former Cindy R. Rupert on October 23, 197,1 at St. James Church in Carthage. In his early years, Fred worked at Carthage Machine and the Black River Garden Center. From 1971-1986, he was the service manager for Lofink Motor Company in Carthage. He then began his trucking career with Dick Meyer Trucking as a driver and in 1992, started his own firm, Fred Cole Trucking, hauling bulk milk. In his later years, he hauled for Organic Valley and Upstate Dairy, retiring in 2018.
Fred was a former member of the Carthage Lions Club and the Carthage Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, especially heading to the Southern Tier and enjoyed working on his vehicles at home. Family was everything to Fred and taking the grandkids camping and fishing was very special for him.
He is survived by his wife: Cindy R. Cole of Lowville, one daughter: Lynn Cole and her companion, Joel Kloster of New Bremen, one son and his wife: Frederick V. Cole Jr. and Patricia L. Cole of Inverness, FL; two grandchildren, Joel (Caitlin) Kloster and Alexis Kloster, two step-grandchildren, Frank Francis and Matthew Estill and three great grandchildren, Waylon, Granger and Baylor, one sister: Ella May (Phil) Tooly of Tyler, TX and one brother: James (Darci) Cole of Port Washington, WI. and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Cynthia Getter, and a brother, Patrick Cole.
