Genevieve E. Rupert, 93, of formerly of Dalton Estates, West Carthage, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing where she has resided for 4 years.

Genevieve was born on November 14, 1925 in Russell, the daughter of the late William L. and Maude B. (Maybee) Weekes. She was a 1943 graduate of West Carthage High School.  She married Charles O. Rupert on November 10, 1946 at the home of her parents in West Carthage with the Rev. John C. Wetzel officiating. Charles, a former rural letter carrier, died on December 26, 1990. Genevieve worked at the former Crown Zellerbach Corp and substituted at the West Carthage Elementary School office. She retired in 2011 from the Wilna-Gormley Oil Co. where she was a secretary for many years in the office.

Her former memberships include the United Community Church and Carlowden Country Club.

She loved to cross country ski, swim at the YMCA in Watertown and was an avid Bridge player.

She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Cindy and Frederick Cole of Carthage and Karen Jones of Adams, 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 2 brothers, Ronald and Kenneth (Jim) Weekes.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, December 12 at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery, Naumburg. Calling hours will precede the funeral services on Wednesday from 2-4 pm.
