George L. Gould III, 80, of the Ball Road, Town of Rutland, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, early Wednesday morning, August 7, 2024 at his home in the Town of Rutland.

George was born on July 3,1944 in Watertown, the son of the late George L. and Rachel Avis (Cardinal) Gould Jr. He attended schools in Rutland and Copenhagen. He was united in marriage to the former Sally Ann Parker on September 24,1966 in Watertown.  George had a long career at the New York Air Brake in Watertown. He retired as a machinist in 2006 after 40 years of service.

George was a longtime member and former Past Chief of the Rutland Vol. Fire Department. He was an avid NASCAR fan and in his younger days raced #94 at the Watertown Fairgrounds racetrack.

He is survived by his wife: Sally Ann Gould of Rutland, one daughter and her husband: Kelly (James) Scott of Deer River, two sons: Kurt Gould of Carthage and Randy (Lori) Gould of Rutland, 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, two brothers: Herb and Ray Gould, both of Rutland and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, David Gould.
