Hobart Willard Haas, 91, of Summit Village, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017.
Hobart (Bert)(Hobbie) was born on December 6, 1925 in Chaumont, NY to the late Milton and Grace Liddy Haas. He grew up on Point Salubrious working on his father's farm, and delivered newspapers around the point. He enjoyed friends and family, as well as, swimming, ice skating, reading, canoeing, crossword puzzles and bocce ball. His children fondly remember him skating backward faster than they could skate forward. He worked on two farms near Stone Mills and LaFargeville until 1963. He moved to Three Mile Bay and worked for Roe Feeds making deliveries. He was transferred to Philadelphia, NY in 1973 and worked there until the early 90's.
Hobart is survived by three children; Willard Haas, Everett, PA, Nancy Fernandez, Schenectady, NY, and Eric Haas, Natural Bridge, NY; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Hobart is predeceased by his wife Iva Mae Doris (Alberry) Haas, a son, Glenn Haas; a grandson Andrew Haas, three brothers, Carl Haas, Walter Haas and Henry Haas; five sisters, Anita Coleman, Verona ˆJune˜ Brooks, Helen Fitzgerald, Luella Haas, and Celia Walker.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8th at the Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Diabetes Assoctation. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
