Harrisville- Jack E. Ritz, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY. He was born on April 16, 1938, at home in Harrisville, NY, to the late Edward & Iona (LaParr) Ritz. He graduated from Harrisville High School.
He married Joy Elaine (Mulvaney) on June 22, 1957, in Carthage. The couple were married for 64 loving years before she died on February 10, 2022.
Jack was a hardworking man who contributed to several local businesses throughout his life. He logged for Wilbur and Waugh, he worked for the Town of Diana, worked at Lance Mashaw's sugarbush, and he also held positions at several mines & mills retiring from the Newton Falls Papermill.
Beyond his work ethic, Jack was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He loved sharing jokes and truly cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
His two daughters and their spouses survive him: Cheryl (Brian) Camidge of Carthage, and Michelle (Steven) Tanner of Philadelphia, five sons and their spouses: Mark (Kelly) Ritz of Harrisville, Patrick (Sylvia) Ritz of Castorland, Stephen (Mary) Ritz of Harrisville, Danny (Jerri) Ritz of Lowville and Edward (Susan) Ritz of Fine, his siblings, Arthur Ritz, Schenectady, NY; Ardith Roux, Philadelphia, NY; Linda Clement, Fowler; Bonnie Sliker, Arkansas; Helen Grigg, Spencerport, NY; and Donna Haller, South Carolina. He is also survived by three sister in laws,: Susan Swain of Tylerville, Kim (Dennis) Monaghan of Carthage and Janet (Tim) Burto of Port St. Lucie, FL, along with two brother-law's: Scott (Kristin) Mulvaney of Carthage and Timothy (Katherine) Mulvaney of Carthage, 13 Grandchildren,16 Great Grandchildren, 18 Great- Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Volunteer Transportation Company for the wonderful help and compassion your team showed to Jack. Your services were invaluable, and we truly appreciate the support you provided. Thank you again for your kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville, with the Reverend Donald Manfred officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Francis Solanus Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Reception to follow for family and friends at the Harrisville Fire Department.
