Jacob P. Romero

Jacob P. Romero, 49, of Castorland, passed away peacefully on December 9,2023 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Jacob was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 1,1974 to Juan Romero and the late Sharon Christman. He grew up in Freeport, Lond Island until the age of eleven, when he moved to Carthage, NY. He lived with his mother and stepfather, Kevin Christman and his four siblings, Elissa Wilson, Brandie Hamilton (Jim), David Christman (Sherri), and Brenda Bauter (Steve).

In 2013, Jacob moved to a group home for disabled people on Route 410 in Castorland, NY. There he stole the hearts of his caregivers and lived the remainder of his life.

Jacob was born with cerebral palsy. He spent the first twelve or so years in and out of hospitals, fighting and defying the odds the doctors held against him. Jacob was a happy soul; he needed little to bring him joy. He loved music, going for walks in his wheelchair, eating, and making people laugh. Jacob was charming, loving, and full of life. He had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a tremendous comical nature; his mother called him "our sit-down comedian". His laughter and joy were contagious. Everyone who knew him would say, knowing him made them a better person. Jacob's presence will be terribly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
