Carthage - John S. Ablan, 59, of 312 S. Clinton St., died Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015, in the Carthage Area Hospital where he has been a patient for 10 days.

John was born in Watertown on July 24, 1955, the son of the late Ablaine and Marilyn Hofer Ablan. He attended Augustinian Academy and was a 1973 graduate of Carthage Central School. He married the former Linda M. Rogers on May 22, 1976 at St. James Church in Carthage with the Rev. James T. Spenard officiating. John worked for the former Crown Zellerbach Corp as a millwright for over 24 years until the mill closed. He has been a collection agent with the Central Service Bureau of Watertown for 16 years.


John was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the BPOE Lodge # 1762 of Carthage.

He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Ablan of Carthage, two sons: Jason R. Ablan and Ryan J. Ablan both of Adams Center, 5 Grandchildren; Michael, Kaylee, Alexis, Konner and Gadsden, his mother, Marilyn Natali of West Carthage, a sister: Mrs. Jeff (Patti) Mattingly of Mary Esther, FL, a brother: Michael Ablan of Watson and nieces and nephews.

A Funeral mass will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun officiating. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
