West Carthage - John W. "Jack" Mooney, 74, of 95 Front St., died Friday evening, January 29, 2016, in the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Jack was born in Staten Island on April 7, 1941, the son of the late Francis J. and Frances J. Givin Mooney. He was educated in Staten Island. He served in the U. S. Army from May 4, 1958 to July 10, 1963 during the end of the Korean Conflict and the beginning of the Vietnam War. Jack's first wife, the former Delores J. McGee died in 1977. He then was united in marriage to the former Rosalind N. Bouissey on February 4, 1980 in Carthage. For 35 years, Jack worked for the New York National Guard as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in 2001. For many years, the couple owned and operated ROJAC Security Services.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 789 of Carthage, a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762 of Carthage and a member of the 700 Bowling Club of Watertown.
Jack enjoyed visiting at the Chatterbox Diner everyday in Carthage with his friends and was an avid bowler many years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalind N. "Rosey" Mooney of West Carthage, one brother: Francis J. Mooney of Elk Grove, CA and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Spring burial will be in Coal Hill, Cemetery, North Bangor. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Wednesday evening from 4-7pm. with memorial services to be conducted by the American Legion at 6:00 pm and the Elks at 6:30 pm.
