It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karol Anne Vandewater 77, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Carthage, New York on the evening of November 1st, 2023. Karol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Karol was living and being cared for by her youngest son Jeffrey in Statesville NC.

Karol was born December 14, 1945, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late Kendrick and Vivian Paul Flynn. She was a 1963 graduate of Carthage Central High School. She married Thomas Roy Vandewater on February 27, 1965, at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. The family moved to Glens Falls in 1985 and then to Statesville, NC in 1993 where Thomas was the project manager of G.L. Wilson. Thomas passed away on October 18, 2009.

Karol is survived by a daughter and her husband, Rhonda M. and Thomas Peek of Spruce Pine, NC. her two sons, David P. Vandewater of Glenfield, NY and Jeffrey T. Vandewater of Statesville, NC. 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, a sister, Kay Scherer of West Carthage, NY and a sister-in-law, Roseanne Flynn of West Carthage, NY. She is predeceased by her husband, parents and a brother, Errol Flynn.

Karol Anne Vandewater was a remarkable woman whose laughter and kindness touched the lives of many. She was loved by all that knew her. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and took great joy in watching them grow. They all will continue to cherish her memory.

While Karol's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Karol in a way that honors her spirit.
