Katherine Ann Benson,68, of 10847 State Rt. 26, Deer River, died Monday, October 8, 2018 after being stricken at her home.

Katherine was born on October 16, 1949 in Lowville, the daughter of the late George and Emma (Hongo) Ewing. She was a graduate of Lowville Academy and later attended beautician school in Syracuse. She was a successful hair stylist for many years, working out of her home and operating three shops in Lowville. She was a valued worker at Kraft in Lowville.

She is survived by two sons and their wives: Anthony M. and Lisa D. Monnat of Bryson City, NC and Jonathan W. and Jacqueline Monnat of Phoenix, AZ,; her grandchildren, Andrew, Madeline and Lauren Monnat; Her very close friend, Butch Barlow of Carthage, her mother Emma (Hongo) Ewing of Lowville; two sisters: Tracey Chamberlain of Lowville and Sharon Ewing-Bush of West Carthage; one brother: Thomas Ewing of Lowville and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 15 from 4-6pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State Street, Carthage, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
