Kathryn Elizabeth Bezanilla, 33, of 99 Woodlawn Ave, Saratoga died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home after suffering a grand mal seizure for which she was being treated.
Katie was born on January 4, 1985 in Watertown, the daughter of Bruce M. and Rhonda L. (Rockwood) Bezanilla. She was a 2003 graduate of Carthage Central High School where she lettered in basketball, softball and soccer. She received her Bachelors degree in Healthcare Education in 2007 from SUNY Potsdam. Katie moved to Saratoga and was employed at Adirondack Medical in Ballston Spa. She also sold real estate for Realty USA and Weichert Realtors and was a bartender at Tin & Lint. She waitressed in NNY at Sand Bay Inn and Aubrey's. She recently became a senior healthcare program specialist for Public Consulting Group Staffing Solutions, contracted for the NYS Department of Health in Albany. She was responsible for making payments to NYS's largest Medicaid contractors that manage Medicaid's payment and tracking system (eMedNy) that total over $1B dollars.
Katie loved her family and was proud of her heritage. She enjoyed cooking, fine wine, spirits and dining out. She joked that Bobby Flay was going to be her "future husband". Listening to Tony Bennett was mandatory. She loved traveling to Kingston, Ontario and coming home to the "Bezanilla Lake House". Katie excelled at taking care of others. She was a selfless daughter, friend and co-worker. She could remember license plate numbers, phone numbers and important dates. She frequently kidded that her "head was full of useless bull…."
She is survived by her beloved dog, Coco, whom she rescued, her parents; Bruce and Rhonda Bezanilla of Cape Vincent; her sister and brother-in-law: Leanne and Bruce Shang and their daughters, Harper and Skye of Exeter, NH; Maternal Grandparents, Wesley and Judy Rockwood of Carthage, Paternal Grandmother, Rose Bezanilla of Carthage and several aunts, uncles and cousins, her Saratoga mother, Joan Purtell and numerous friends in the Saratoga, Carthage and Cape Vincent areas.
