Carthage - Kenneth L. Shettleton, 87, of 3536 VanBrocklin Road, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his residence where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Lewis County.

Kenneth was born in Carthage on May 8, 1925, the son of the late Howard and Alice Wells Shettleton. He attended Carthage High School. He married the former Clara B. Trombley on September 28, 1946 at the Baptist Parsonage in Carthage. Ken was an automotive mechanic in various car dealerships for over 40 years. He retired in 1987. He was a talented musician, had his own band and played several instruments.

He was an exempt member of the Carthage Vol. Fire Dept. Carthage.

He is survived by his wife Clara B. of Carthage, two sons: Howard of Black River and Kevin of Carthage, 3 grandchildren, Tammy Mayer and Amanda and Brandon Shettleton, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters: Shirley Kehoe of Watertown and Linda Allen of Sackets Harbor, a brother: Carleton Shettleton of Deferiet and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Carol Schneider and a brother, Keith Shettleton and a grandson, Jason Shettleton are predeceased.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church, Carthage with the Rev. Robert Barone officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Friday from 4-7pm.
