Carthage - Lyle A. "Fuzzy" Brown, 86, of 634 Adelaide St., died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where he has resided since December of 2011.

Fuzzy was born in Richfield, NY on November 30, 1927, the son of the late Lyle F. and Hazel House Brown. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Anna Baxter Brown. He attended school in Copenhagen and worked on several farms before joining the U.S. Navy for two years during World War II. He married the former Elizabeth Rita Fauvelle on February 19, 1949 at St. James Church in Carthage. Betty died on March 20, 1999. Fuzzy was a machine tender for the St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet for over 40 years, retiring several years ago.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #7227 of Carthage, a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge # 1762 of Carthage and a former member of the Carthage Vol. Fire Dept.

He is survived by his son and his wife, Michael F. and Sandy Brown of Carthage, a grandson, Dana Brown and his wife, Billie Jean of Black River, a granddaughter, Haley Emmick and her husband, Scott of Painted Post, 4 Great Grandchildren, 2 brothers, Robert (Shirley) Brown of Bound Brook, NJ and Vernon (Kathy) Brown of Dexter, 3 sisters, Linda Spencer of West Lowville, Judy Logan of Tulsa OK and Kathy (Chet) Mehaffy of Watertown and several nieces and nephews. A brother, John Stanley Brown and a sister, Carol Ann Huber are predeceased.

In keeping with his wishes, all funeral services will be held privately by the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
