West Carthage - Marcia R. Townsend, 56, of 59 Jefferson St., died Monday evening, May 4, 2015, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester where she has been a patient since Thursday.
Marcia was born in Rome, NY on May 3, 1959, the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris Cline Rondinelli. She was a 1977 of Rome Free Academy and received her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from Utica College. She was previously married to Kevin J. Townsend. Marcia has worked for Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for 33 years in the Hematology Department as its Supervisor.
Marcia was a member of St. James Church in Carthage and was the Secretary of the Watertown Kiwanis Club.
She is survived by one daughter: Morgan L. Townsend of West Carthage, one son: Matthew P. Townsend of West Carthage, a grandson, Aiden Townsend; two sisters: Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Rienzo of Utica and Mrs. James (Donna) Sherwood of Rome and 3 nieces Megan Beers, Nicole Law and Kate Sherwood and 2 nephews Christopher and Daniel Sherwood. She is predeceased by her son, Joseph M. Townsend who died on March 14, 1988.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Thursday from 5-8 pm.
