IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie Ann
Eighmey
August 26, 1956 – October 9, 2024
Marie Ann Eighmey, 68, of NYS Rt.3, Carthage, was stricken at her residence and later died Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at her home in Carthage.
Marie was born on August 26, 1956, in Watertown, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sally (Mathys) Donihee. She was a 1974 graduate of Watertown High School and then attended Keuka College and then transferred to RIT. She married Donald J. Eighmey on June 29, 1985 in Watertown. They were later divorced. Marie worked at the West Carthage Elementary School as an aide before transferring to the Transportation Department for the Carthage Central School District where she worked for many years, retiring in 2021.
Marie was a very active member of the Carthage Booster Club and was always available for any gathering or event. She was active in the PTA when she was raising her children.
Marie's heart was fully open to those in her life. She would drop anything at a moment's notice to help those in her community. While her physical body fought many demons, her heart remained true. She was undeniably proud of her children and grandchildren and cherished the many friendships she developed at the bus garage throughout her time there.
She is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Eighmey of Oxford, CT and one son: Thomas (Jackie) Eighmey of Wakefield, MA. She also has four grandchildren: Addelyn Eighmey, Jayden Eighmey, Thomas Chang and Donovan Chang, and her aunt, Mary Jane Mathys of Beaver Falls.
