Marie B. Lofink, 87, of Carthage, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY. Born on October 17, 1938, in Watertown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Ruth (Favret) Bowman.
Marie graduated from West Carthage High School in 1956. On October 11, 1958, she married Harold L. Lofink at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Harold, the former Vice President of the family-owned Lofink Motor Company, who retired in 1998, predeceased her in 2020. Marie enjoyed working alongside Harold for many years in the Parts Department at Lofink’s.
A communicant of St. James Catholic Church, Marie loved taking care of her family and always shared a smile with everyone she met. She enjoyed bowling for years and always cherished time spent with her family and friends, particularly while entertaining. Visiting casinos and playing games were always a highlight for her, along with crocheting and making blankets for others to enjoy.
She is survived by three children, Adam (JoAnn) Lofink of Auburn, Karen (Jeff) Brady of Centennial, CO and Bruce Lofink of Carthage; six beloved grandchildren; Adam, Taylor, Ben, Carly, Stephanie and Erik; eight cherished great-grandchildren; Morgan, Kadince, Madison, Ellie, Everly, Rowan, Nora and Juan Jr. and many dear nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her son, Thomas Lofink; granddaughter, Kylee Lofink; her three brothers, Ralph, Roswell, and Wayne Bowman; her sister, Helen Lawton; and nephew, Michael Lawton.
A Mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00pm at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. Todd Thibault officiating. A calling hour will precede the funeral service at the church from 11:00am-12:00pm. Burial will take place in the spring at the New St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Donations in her memory can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. James Catholic Church.
