Marie H. O'Brien, 79, a former resident of Meadowbrook Terrace and sister and sister-in-law to David and Valerie O'Brien of West Carthage, died early Friday morning, June 14,2024 at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Carthage.

Marie was born December 2,1944 in Syracuse, daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Miller) O'Brien.  She attended schools in Syracuse and Holy Angels in Rochester. For several years she was a proofreader for the Post Standard in Syracuse, worked for the New York State Employment Agency and as a secretary for REMSCO Insurance Company in Syracuse, retiring several years ago.

She is survived by a brother and his wife, David and Valerie O'Brien of West Carthage, and their children to whom she was very close and cared for, Jennifer (Robert) Hike-Phelps and Colleen O'Brien and her great nieces and nephews, Alexander, Natalie and Tyler Hike and Eva Kelly and Alina O'Brien, a brother, Kevin O'Brien of Syracuse and a sister: Gail O'Brien of Tampa, FL. She is predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Christopher O'Brien and two sisters, Kathleen McLaughlan and Yvonne O'Brien.
