Marilyn G. Brady, 82, of 24167 Staie Road, Carthage died Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2018 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
Marilyn was born on August 1, 1935 in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Ferguson) Boyle. She moved to the United States in 1945 with her parents. She graduated from Theresa High School in 1953 and the Watertown School of Commerce in 1954. She married Patrick T. Brady on July 3, 1965 at St. James Church in Carthage. Marilyn worked at the former Taggaret Paper Mill in Watertown, Beneficial Finance Co. in Carthage and the United Community Church for 26 years.
In July of 2015, Patrick and Marilyn celebrated fifty wonderful years together. Marilyn was a beautiful and caring person who doted on her family. She especially loved knitting hats and mittens for her children and grandchildren, as well as hats and blankets for the newborns at Carthage Area Hospital. She was revered in her family for cooking and baking, especially her Christmas "rock" cookies and fruitcake. She was a godsend to her daughter-in-law Michelle by assisting, whenever needed, in the nurturing of three active boys. Michelle considered Marilyn her true mother.
She was a member of the United Community Church, Life member of VFW Dionne-Rumble Post # 7227 Auxiliary, Bassett-Baxter Post Auxiliary # 789 of Carthage, Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered at the Gift Shop and she was a former member of the Theresa OES (Past Matron).
She is survived by her husband: Patrick T. Brady of Carthage; one son and daughter-in-law: James and Michelle Brady of Carthage, one daughter and son-in-law: Jean Marie and Brian Edwards of Colorado Springs, CO. She also has four grandsons; Patrick K. Brady, Kelsey J. Brady, Shayne T. Brady and Paul F. Edwards, a granddaughter, Claire M. Edwards and her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Joyce Brady of West Carthage. She is predeceased by her parents and her infant son, Michael Brady.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 24 at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Jane E. Wagner, Pastor of the United Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be Monday, April 23 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bassett-Baxter Post # 789 Legion Scholarship or the V.E.W. Dionne-Rumble Post Scholarship (Neil Connelly).
