Myles "Norm" Lovejoy, 92, of Deferiet, died Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Luke Residential Health Care Facility in Oswego.

Norm was born on July 4, 1926 in Watertown, the son of the late Norman K. and Della Rose (Shatraw) Lovejoy. He was a graduate of Carthage High School.  He served in the Navy as a shipfitter third class aboard the USS Shangri-La during World War II from 1944 to 1946.   He married the former Margaret A. Pastor on June 5, 1948 at St. Rita's Church in Deferiet. Margaret died on September 17, 2016.  Norm worked as a machinist for the St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet and retired in 1988 after 42 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion Post # 789 in Carthage and former member of Carlowden Country Club in Denmark.  He loved to fish and hunt, play golf, build all kinds of furniture including cabinets, beds, tables and roll top bread boxes and loved gardening.

He is survived by four daughters and their husbands: Joanne and Daniel Birchenough of Fulton, Marianne and Stanley Ferguson of Carthage, Kathleen and Philip Aylward of Oswego and Maribeth and Raymond LaFave of Washington, DC, 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. A son, Lonnie Lovejoy, died on November 2, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17 at St. Rita's Church in Deferiet with Rev. Robert L. Decker, Pastor officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in Black River Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at the church. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
