Patrick Michael McKenna

Patrick Michael McKenna, 65, of County Route 47, Carthage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born on April 5, 1960, in Plattsburgh, NY, Patrick was the son of the late Candace C. (Fields) McKenna-Pignone and Michael W. McKenna. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1978 and went on to serve his country with pride in the New York Army National Guard from 1979 to 2015, He also served overseas in Iraq from October 2004 to September 2005. Patrick was employed by NY Mates for 35 years, retiring as a CW4 "Promotable," in 2015. Patrick continued to work on Fort Drum as a civilian and contractor after retiring.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Lori McKenna; his children, Breanna and Brendan McKenna; his sister, Penny McKenna of Watertown; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

A man of faith and community, Patrick was a member of the Basset-Baxter American Legion Post #789, the BPOE Lodge #1762 of Carthage, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and St James Church.

Patrick had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. He enjoyed exploring local breweries, capturing memories through photography, and spending time on the golf course. He was passionate about riding his Harley and cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the Utica Comets hockey team and Liverpool FC. He was also a dedicated NASCAR fan. Above all, Patrick's greatest joy came from watching his children play sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State Street, Carthage, NY 13619. A Memorial Service with military honors will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
