Obituary

Carthage - Paul R. Storms, 59, of 37261 State Rt. # 3, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his residence where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Paul was born in Watertown on March 26, 1955, the son of the late Secord S. and Mary O. O'Brien Storms. He was a 1973 graduate of Carthage Central and a 1975 graduate of Canton ATC, receiving his A.A.S. degree in Electrical Maintenance and Construction. Paul married the former Greta L. McBride on October 11, 1975 at St. James Church in Carthage. He was employed at General Sign in Carthage and also ran his own business, Paul Storms Electrical for several years. In 1985, he went to work on Fort Drum as an electrician, working in the Public Works Department and retired due to a disability in February of 2006.

He was a founding member of the Zelda Swamp Hunting Club of Degrasse, Sons of the American Legion of Carthage, was an avid woodworker, big fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Fourteen Island Lake in Ontario, Canada.


He is survived by his wife, Greta L. Storms of Carthage, two sons and their wives: Patrick S. (Nicole) Storms of Carthage and Jeffrey P. (Michele) Storms of Syracuse, 4 granddaughters, Emma, Ellie, Sophia and Lucy and 2 grandsons, Ian and Samuel, one brother: Stephen (Cyanne) Storms of Harrisville and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, George E. and Michael F. Storms died previously.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. Family and friends may call at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7pm.
