Peter Liberatos of Watertown, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at Crouse Hospital at the age of 76.
Born October 15th, 1949, in Carthage, NY to Harry and Julia (Tanoury) Liberatos, he was a 1968 graduate of Carthage Central School, a 1969 graduate of The Manlius School, and attended the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. In both high school and college, he excelled in sports and was a proud member of the last undefeated football team at Carthage Central School in 1966.
Mr. Liberatos began his career as a Marketing Representative for the Philip Morris Corporation (Altria) in New York City and Syracuse in 1977. He retired after 30 years in June 2007. He was a Life member of the Carthage Elks Lodge #1762 and supported both Holy Family Church and St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown. He enjoyed golf, fishing, college football, American Military History, and was an active volunteer in retirement at Fairview Cemetery in Carthage, NY.
He married Christina Misercola on July 17th, 1981, at the home of the late Justice John Cox. The marriage was later blessed by Rev. Jay Seymore at Holy Family Church.
Surviving besides his wife of 44 years are a daughter, Lexie Morris (John), and two much beloved grandchildren, Abigail and Jack, a step-grandson, Sean, two brothers, Michael (Kathie), Carthage, and Theodore, Boston, MA; two sisters, Helen Novak, Carthage, and Irene Liberatos (Michael Westergren), Houston TX, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Athena Liberatos Dawes, brothers-in-law, Gordon Dawes and Ron Novak, a niece Alexandra Kathie Liberatos, and a nephew, Joshua Ronald Novak.
Arrangements are in the care of the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage, NY. As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Graveside Service and a Celebration of Life will be held privately by the family at a later date. Condolences can be made online at www.bezanillafh.com.
