Quentin J. Gebo, 83, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Quentin was born December 1, 1933 in Carthage, the son of the late Leroy and Angelina (Rigabar) Gebo. He attended Augustinian Academy and graduated from Carthage High in 1952. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from May of 1953 to March of 1955. He married the former Eleanor J. Leroux on January 25, 1957 at St. Anthony's Church in Newton Falls. For 33 years, he worked for the New York Telephone Company in Carthage as a Cable Repair Technician, retiring in 1985. After his retirement, the couple moved to Lake Bonaparte. Eleanor died on December 20, 2002.
He was a life member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762 of Carthage, exempt member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department, life member of VFW Post # 7227 of Carthage and a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Harrisville Rod & Gun Club and the Lake Bonaparte Conservation Club.
Quentin loved hunting and fishing and spending time on Lake Bonaparte.
He is survived by his two sons: Edward J. Gebo and Daniel F. Gebo, both of Carthage, three grandchildren; Jordon Gebo, Robert Sanders and Heather Chaffee; 9 Great Grandchildren, his beloved companion, Sandra Stone of Carthage and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Grover and Wallace Gebo and a sister, Angelina Winter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, February 9 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage with Rev. Vincent Freeh, MSC officiating.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 8 from 4-7pm at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home where members of the Carthage Fire Dept. will call at 6:00pm and the members of the Elks Lodge will call at 6:30pm.
Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, February 12th from 1-4pm at the Elks Lodge in Carthage.
