Obituary
Watertown - Randy J. Bent, 62, of 821 Morrison St., died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his residence.
Randy was born in Carthage, on July 9, 1952, the son of the late Joseph and Doris Gruner Bent. He was a 1971 graduate of Carthage Central High School. He served in the Navy from 1972 to 1976 aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Kitty Hawk. Randy worked in supply on Fort Drum for over 30 years, retiring in 2007 as a publications clerk. In his retirement, he could be seen daily at Planet Fitness in Watertown. Randy will be remembered as a kind man, always helping others when he could.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #61 of Watertown where he once held the position of Service Officer.
He is survived by his two sisters: Mrs. Michael (Karen) Thomas of PawPaw, MI and Kathy Thesier and her companion, Normand Gagnon Jr. of Theresa, two brothers: Dean (Marcia) Bent of Carthage and Richard (Denize) Bent of Spencerport, his special dog "Lucky" and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage with Mr. Wayne Arnold officiating. Spring burial with military honors will be held at Hillside Cemetery in West Carthage. Calling hours will precede the memorial service on Thursday from 3:30pm - 6:30pm.
