Rutland - Rawlin R. "Rawly" Arno, 88, of 27741 NYS Rt. # 126, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his residence.
Rawlin was born in Santa Clara, NY on November 3, 1926, one of twelve children of the late George and Myrtle DeShaw Arno. He was a graduate of Santa Clara High School. Rawlin served in the Navy during WW II from 1944 to 1946 and during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He was united in marriage to the former Esther E. White on June 11, 1950 at the Carthage Methodist Church. He worked for the former Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Carthage as a technician, retiring after many years of service in 1988. The couple lived in Carthage at 620 West St. for many years before moving to Rutland in 1995. Esther, a clerk for the former W.T. Grant's Store, died on May 5, 2014.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping and was an excellent craftsman with his building skills.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda and William Rogers and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Arno all of Watertown, 4 Grandchildren, Shannon (Stephanie) Einbeck of Cicero, MaKenzie, Casey and Jana (Josh) Cox all of Watertown, a great grandson, Liam Einbeck of Cicero, two sisters, Janice Noonan of Averill Park and Connie McTague of Albany and several nieces and nephews. A son, Rodney Arno died on February 21, 2014.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor of St. James Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday from 4-7pm.
