Raymond H. Guyette, 79, of 26 Madison St., died Thursday morning, June 8, 2017 at University Hospital in Syracuse.

Raymond was born on December 7, 1937 in West Carthage, the son of the late Ronald V. and Laura (Campany) Guyette. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958 and was discharged from the Reserves in 1963. He married the former Patricia A. Sly on February 17, 1962 in Lowville. Ray worked at the former Crown Zellerbach Corp. which became Fort James where he was a Team Leader, retiring in April of 1998 after more than 35 years of service. He worked as a police officer for the West Carthage Police Department, starting in 1972 and served as its Chief from 1985 until his retirement in1990. Patricia Guyette died on November 26, 2014.

Raymond was a life member of the VFW Post # 7227, member of the American Legion Post # 789 and the BPOE Elks Lodge # 1762 all of Carthage. He was a bowler and golfer and was a member of the Carlowden Country Club in Denmark.

He is survived by two daughters: Katheryn J. Graham and Mrs. Cindy G. (Michael) Rogan, all of Syracuse, one son and his wife: Mark R. (Mary) Guyette of Watertown, six grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Lewis, Andrew, Matthew and Mollie Guyette and Zachary and Lauren Graham, two great grandchildren, Owen and Caitlin Lewis, one brother: Robert L. Guyette of Carthage and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia, two sisters, Shirley Pleskach and Juanita Brown and two brothers, Richard and Gary Guyette.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12 at 11:00am at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 1-4pm at the funeral home. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 pm by the American Legion, 3:30 pm by the Elks and 4:00 pm by the V.F.W.
