West Carthage- Richard John Fahsel, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown. Richard was born in West Carthage on September 22, 1935, the son of the late John G. and Hazel Belile Fahsel. He was a graduate of West Carthage High School, attended Canton ATI, Oswego State and received his Master's Degree from the University of Maine at Orono. Richard was an industrial arts teacher for many years in Bangor, Maine. He retired and moved to Florida and lived there for 15 years until returning this fall when his health was declining. He had a summer residence in Mt. Arab Lake. His longtime companion, Elsie Dingman, died in 2013. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He is survived by a daughter: Kimberley S. Cowan of Pulaski, two sons: Jeffrey J. Fahsel of San Mateo, CA and Steven R. Fahsel of Brewer, ME, 3 granddaughters, Lillian, Kristen and Amy and 2 grandsons Michael and Cameron, a sister: Betty Heath of Great Bend and a niece, LeAnn Sharp. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 11:00am – 1:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 1:00pm.
