CARTHAGE- Richard J. Renaud, Carthage, died early Tuesday morning at Lewis County General Hospital. He was 82 years old.
A graveside service will be held 11AM Monday August 19th in St. James Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Arrangements are in care of the Bezanilla- McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
Richard was born June 14, 1942 in Baldwinsville, NY to Joseph N. and Elizabeth A. (Shortt) Renaud. He graduated from Augustinian Academy in 1959. He married Elaine R. Perry December 17th, 1960 in the sacristy of St. James Catholic Church, Carthage. He served in the New York National Guard in Carthage and Fort Drum from 1960 until his retirement in 2002. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. After retirement he assisted his son in the operation of the Adirondack Funeral Homes.
He was a life member of the BPOE 1762 in Carthage serving as Exalted Ruler in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carthage.
He enjoyed spending time with family, taking care of his lawn, going out to eat and camping and sailing when he was younger.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, three sons, Richard, Rochester, John, South Carolina and Thomas (Tina), Carthage. He has five grandchildren, and a great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Frederick(Shirley), Joseph, Anne and a nephew Sean.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory can be made to the Carthage Area Rescue Squad. Condolences may be made at www.bezanillafh.com.
The family would like to thank his caregivers at home, the Rescue Squad and Fire Department for always answering their calls. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Lewis County General Hospital ICU for the compassionate care in his final days.
