Deferiet - Robin R. Zando, 60, of 29 Anderson Ave, passed away Saturday evening, October 31, 2015, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester where she was a patient for 10 days.
Robin was born in Lowville on May 2, 1955, the daughter of Darwin and Eleanor Roes Lehman. She was a 1973 graduate of Beaver River High School and a 1975 graduate of Upstate Medical Center as an x-ray technician. She married Joseph M. Zando on April 9, 1977 at the Beaver Falls Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman and Rev. Roland Hart officiating.
Robin worked at Carthage Area Hospital for many years before joining the Watertown OB-GYN group. She then worked at Watertown Breast Imagining which was operated by Samaritan Medical Center. She had been employed as a Sonographer with Woman To Woman in Watertown, until her illness in January.
Robin served on the Deferiet Village Planning Board for many years and was a longtime supporter and member of the Carthage Booster Club.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Zando of Deferiet, three sons: Andrew J. of West Carthage and Matthew J. and Paul M., both of Baltimore, MD, her parents, Darwin and Eleanor Lehman of Beaver Falls, two brothers and their wives: Dean and Jacqueline Lehman of Fullerton, CA and Mickey and Janice Lehman of Croghan, one sister: Tracy Lehman and her companion, Dave Lambert of New Bremen, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Rita's of Cascia Church, Deferiet with Rev. Robert L. Decker, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage will be on Wednesday from 2-7pm.
