West Carthage

Ruth Ann Bezanilla, 70, of 38 N. Broad St., died Saturday afternoon at the Ellis Farm of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Ruth was born in Watertown on August 8, 1946, the daughter of the late Theodore and Marion Zimmer Moseley. She was a 1964 graduate of Carthage Central School and later attended Albany Business School. She married Michael S. Bezanilla on August 7, 1965 at the Woolworth Memorial Church in Great Bend. Michael died on August 5, 2003.

For many years Ruth was a clerk for the former Beyer's Clothing Store in Carthage. She was employed for over 17 years with the Carthage Central School District working as an aide, bus driver and for many years as a secretary at the Carthage Elementary School.

Ruth was dedicated to the community and was a longtime member and former President of the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary, former Girl Scout Leader, Cheerleading Coach for the Carthage Bears Pop Warner Football team, Red Hat's Society and she taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Robert M. (Jodi) Bezanilla of Camp Hill, PA and Michael A. Bezanilla of West Carthage, a daughter, Michelle T. Bezanilla of West Carthage, two grandsons, Chad and Brodie Bezanilla, a sister, Fern Fargo of Watertown, two brothers, Kenneth (Linda)Moseley of Great Bend and Harold (Sue) Moseley of Watertown and nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Theodore, John and Allan Moseley are predeceased.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Friday from 4-7 pm.
