Sharon A. Wohnsiedler passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1944, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Frederick “Ted” and Rita (Shaver) Griffith. She was raised in Harrisville, NY, and graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1962 and Syracuse School of Cosmetology in 1963.
On February 1st, 1969, Sharon married George Wohnsiedler Jr. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Harrisville. Sharon and George had 2 sons who were the center of their world, Philip and Brian.
Sharon was a 30+ year employee and retiree of Carthage Area Hospital, starting as a part-time ward clerk on the medical floor and retiring as the Director of Medical Records. During her years at the hospital, many friendships were formed that lasted for the remainder of her life.
Sharon is predeceased by her Parents, her husband George in 2006, her oldest son Philip in 2009, and her brother David (Lilly) Griffith. She loved her family fiercely and treasured them above all other earthly things. While her approval didn’t always come easy, her devotion was unmatched and everlasting.
She will be missed and remembered by her surviving son Brian, daughter-in-law Krista, grandchildren Kaylen (Trent) Turner, Keegan, and Ryenne Elizabeth, her 2 best buddies Walker and Weston Turner (great-grandchildren), A daughter-in-law Debbie Wohnsiedler and her family of Star Lake, extended Griffith and Valentine families, as well as some special friends affectionately known as the coffee ladies.
Donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to the Natural Bridge Rescue Squad or the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
Her services will be held privately by her family; she will be laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery in Carthage, NY.
