Shirley Ann Bowman, 88, of 53 Bridge St., West Carthage, died Tuesday evening, March 26,2024 at the Jewish Home of Central New York in Syracuse.

Shirley was born on July 16,1935 in Schuyler Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Brelia) Bruno. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Plattsburgh State College.  She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Bowman on May 16,1959 in Morrisonville, NY. Shirley was a school nurse for many years at West Carthage Elementary School and Augustinian Academy. She and Ralph operated Bowman's Market in Great Bend from 1972 until they retired in 1990.

Shirley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 789 in Carthage and St. James Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband: Ralph E. Bowman of West Carthage and her daughter: Deborah Benna of Bradenton, FL; two brothers, Clarence Bruno of Glens Falls, Gerald (Joe) Bruno of Schuyler Falls and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister: Beverly Vorano and two brothers, Johnny and Robert Bruno.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 2 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage with Rev. Todd E. Thibault officiating.  Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg. Friends may call at the Church, prior to the Mass on Tuesday from 10am-11am.
