Obituary

Carthage - Stanley L. Arnold, 87, of 539 Adelaide St., died Sunday evening, May 27, 2012, in the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Arnold was born in Natural Bridge on July 4, 1924, the son of the late Roy and Martha Arnold Arnold. He attended school in Natural Bridge. He served in the Army from March of 1943 to February of 1946 with the 78th Infantry Division during WW II. He was wounded in action near the Rhine River in Germany. He received numerous citations including the Purple Heart. He married the former Cecelia M. Greenwood on March 18, 1944 at the Carthage United Methodist Church.


He was a machinist in the maintenance department of the former Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Carthage for over thirty years. He retired several years ago.

Stanley was a charter member of the Dionne-Rumble VFW Post # 7227, Carthage, a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762 and the American Legion Post # 789, Carthage.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and motorcycling.

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia M. of Carthage, a niece and her husband, Emily and Robert Blaschke of Carthage, a nephew, Mark Arnold of Clifton Springs, NY; a great nephew, Jeffrey (Barb) Kimball of Carthage, three great nieces, Chrystal (Jeffrey) Loomis of Carthage, Julie Blaschke and her companion Cal Shaw of Beaver Falls and Shelly Kent of Cicero. He is predeceased by a brother, Douglas Arnold and a sister Eileen Arnold who died in infancy.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Arnold officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Champion. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 2-7pm. Memorial services will be conducted by the Elks at 6:00pm and the VFW at 6:30 pm., Wednesday.
