West Carthage - Steve Tamas, 70, a resident of Dalton Estates, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at his apartment where he was under the care of his wife and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Mr. Tamas was born in Hungary on February 28, 1944, the son of the late Istvan and Erzsebet Szappan Tamas. He came to the United States and for many years was a cab driver in New York City.  That is where he met and later married his wife, the former Carmen Rodriguez on February 27, 1981 in her native Puerto Rico. The couple lived in New York City until retiring and moved to the Harrisville area in 2002. They just recently moved to Dalton Estates in February of 2014.

He is survived by his wife Carmen of West Carthage, a sister Piroska Valus of Hungary and a niece, Gabriella Valus also of Hungary.

All funeral arrangements will be held privately and are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
