Carthage - Thelma Rose McHale, 83, of 125 S. Clinton St., died Friday, April 13, 2012, at her residence where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Mrs. McHale was born in Sackets Harbor on March 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Floyd and Denzel Fawdry Burnup. She attended school in Sackets Harbor. She worked at the former Calavo Factory in Sackets Harbor. She married Joseph P. McHale on May 1, 1948 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sackets Harbor with Rev. John Kennedy officiating. Joseph, a former superintendent for the Carthage Armory died on February 2, 1995.
Thelma was a homemaker and provided daycare for all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Sean P. and Barbara McHale of Carthage, her four grandchildren; Michelle Wood, Holly, Christopher and Kerri McHale, a great grandson, Carter Benjamin Wood, a sister: Octalana Parker of Florida, a brother: Gaynard Burnup of Sackets Harbor and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Floyd Burnup and a sister, Corleen Bruer died previously.
Funeral services will be held privately by the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
